The Naval Academy women’s lacrosse team may have concluded its season in May, but the pregame ceremony went viral as many paid patriotic tribute to the late Toby Keith.
To build hype ahead of their Patriot League semifinal game against Holy Cross, the women’s lacrosse team sang Keys’ hit song “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” in the locker room.
Sydney Beitler, a midfielder from Darnstown, Md., led the way in the middle of the circle as her teammates stood with their arms around each other’s shoulders.

When Beitler pretended to “punch” Anne Culicerto, a senior goalkeeper from Charlotte, N.C., based on the song’s lyrics, they were clearly singing the song, and really Very committed.
The Instagram video then cuts to the Naval Academy game against Holy Cross, where they score and celebrate while Keith sings the song in the background.

Naval Academy defeated Holy Cross 19-5 in that semifinal, with Emily Messinese and Tori DiCarlo scoring four goals apiece in the victory.
OutKick retweeted the video and it received a ton of positive comments from Patriots who liked what they saw from this group of future female midshipmen.
“This is the best thing you’ll see all day!!” one X user wrote.
Another added: “Toby would be so proud! These girls are first class patriots! I have never seen a women’s lacrosse game in my life but they gave me new fans!”
Unfortunately, Naval Academy was unable to end the season on a high note, losing to seventh-ranked Loyola 12-11 in overtime in the Patriot League championship final.

But there’s no doubt that the chemistry between these female midshipmen will be on full display heading into next season, as it’s safe to say that passion and patriotism will be on full display.
