Back in 2022, Sony announced its intention to launch a sci-fi RPG series horizon to TV. The Umbrella Academy Steve Blackman and lost girl Creator Michelle Lovretta was named co-showrunner, which seemed like the end of the story until we got more substantial information about the cast and writers. But surprisingly, the show no longer seems to be coming to fruition in any way.
According to Cheyenne Roundtree of Rolling Stone , Netflix has chosen to kill the show. Although the details are Why It’s unclear what decision the streamer made, which may have something to do with the recent allegations surrounding Blackman. Last week, Jushi published a report detailing his alleged abuse and misconduct over the years umbrella writer and actor, even down to manipulative behavior, crude jokes, and taking credit for work that doesn’t belong to him. Blackman denied the outlet’s accusations at the time but canceled the show as well as another of his projects, a sci-fi thriller series track— effectively scrapping the $50 million development deal Netflix gave him in 2020.
Last we heard horizon On the show, Sony mentioned that it and Prime Video are working on a script god of war series. (As of this writing, the show is believed to still be in development.) After news of the show’s end broke, journalist Jeff Grubb mentioned that he’d heard that the show’s script was considered by those who paid for the show to be ” That’s bad, and if true, it might also help in finally reaching a deal. It was completely thrown away instead of being continued by a new producer or two, which made everything he heard seem believable.
Anyway, lost horizon It’s a pretty big blow for Sony, which has been vocal about its desire to turn its various PlayStation franchises into cross-media behemoths. There are more games in the series in the works – a LEGO spin-off is due in the autumn, and a co-op game and MMO are in development – but this certainly dilutes the grand design PlayStation hopes for one of its big headliners.
