Kamala Harris is all the rage in the media right now. Democrats are rallying behind her. The media is rewriting her history before your eyes. She was well loved. Her rise was destined. Therefore, a rise in the polls is almost inevitable.
But a Rasmussen Reports poll poured cold water on the vice president and her campaign.
In a new poll conducted this week, Harris trailed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump by 7 percentage points.
The polling firm reported that “in a two-way vote, 50 percent of likely American voters would vote for Trump, while 43 percent would vote for Harris.”
Additionally, “Four percent (4%) said they would vote for another candidate and three percent (3%) were undecided.”

Kamala’s bump reaches… bump
More troubling for those hoping to make Kamala Harris the Democratic nominee by sidestepping the entire primary process — the person they most need to win over is not responding.
Independents — you know, the ones largely made up of people who have no interest in either party and who Democrats think will be attracted to them because they don’t like Trump’s antics — are solidly behind the Republican choice.
In independent voter data, Trump leads Harris by 20 points at 53%, with the vice president trailing at 33%. The alternative candidate option scored 9%, compared with 4% among undecided voters.
Kamala is deeply unpopular among rank-and-file voters, who view San Francisco’s far-left liberals as American weirdos rather than someone who represents their needs and those of their families.

How is this poll different?
So what’s different about the Rasmussen poll? What sets them apart from the media-fed polls showing Kamala slightly up?
As the firm’s Brian Joondeph writes, they started by using “likely voters” instead of “registered voters” in their polls.
“Many registered voters rarely or never vote,” he wrote. “Based on past voting records, voter enthusiasm to vote is likely to be much higher.”
Rasmussen also claimed in a post on X that they have more polling data on Kamala Harris than most other groups.
For independents only –
Trump: 53% (+20)
Harris: 33%
Others: 9%
Not sure: 5%We do more Harris Polls than almost any polling agency. So it’s not surprising to us. This is consistent with our last Biden vs. Trump poll. She is no better than Biden. https://t.co/QypzA6cQIu

“We do more Harris polls than almost any polling agency. So this is no surprise to us. This is consistent with our last Biden vs. Trump poll,” they reported. “She’s no more progressive than Biden.”
Jondev offered blunt comments when discussing whether Kamala’s election has led to her polling better than Trump.
“It’s a rare opportunity,” he said.
