After releasing the trailer for Moana and the New Voyage of Maui in May, Disney once again announced the animated sequel “Moana 2” at the D23 event on Friday.
The new “Moana” movie was originally developed as a TV series and will be released in theaters on November 27.
According to Disney’s synopsis, in “Moana 2,” the protagonist embarks on an adventure “after receiving an unexpected call from her path-finding ancestor.” Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho return to voice Maui and Moana. In addition to “Moana 2”, a live-action version of the first film is also scheduled to be released in 2026.
Early trailers take viewers back to Motunui and beyond, as Moana embarks on a new journey beyond the reef. Familiar faces include the shape-shifting demigod Maui, Hei Hei chicken and Pua the pig – which Maui calls “an updated version of on-board snacks.”
The footage includes the menacing Karcamora, awe-inspiring whale sharks, and some words from Moana: “This is the call of our ancestors to sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the oceans. .
