A new New York Times poll finds that a majority of registered voters believe Trump is a change agent who will bring about the changes the country needs now.
At first glance, there are two things worth noting about this poll. In fact, it comes from the New York Times and the idea that Trump has become the candidate for change.
It’s also a reminder that voters desperately want the country to take a different direction than we’ve had for three years.

New York Times Poll: Most voters say Trump ‘will bring about the right changes’
A New York Times/Siena College poll on Thursday found that a majority of registered voters believe former President Donald Trump “will bring about the right changes for the country.”
Trump’s campaign themes are to restore the economy, increase American jobs, secure the southern border, and prevent World War III.
“I’m running for president of all of America, not half of America, because winning half of America is not a victory,” Trump said in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Committee in Milwaukee.
Only 47% of registered voters have the same opinion of Vice President Kamala Harris, and voters also view Harris as a far less “strong leader” than Trump.
Sixty percent of registered voters say Trump is a strong leader, compared with just 46% for Harris.
Overall, the poll found Trump leading Harris by two percentage points, suggesting Harris may be enjoying the “honeymoon” phase of her initial campaign for president.
A slight bounce in the polls for Harris after the Democratic National Convention in August is to be expected, but beyond that, her campaign is likely to be bumpy.
The country wants change, and so does Kamala Harris.
