Progressive Rep. Ro Khanna wrote a letter to vice presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan urging her to abandon her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. .)’s campaign, citing concerns that the campaign might result in Donald winning the election.
Robert Kennedy announced his choice of Shanahan last month and pushed for an independent bid for the White House.
According to Kennedy’s running mate, CBS News obtained a letter Khanner wrote to her, warning that “endorsing Kennedy could help return Trump to the White House and have a negative impact on the environment.”
“Even Trump himself and other members of his team acknowledge that Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s votes will help his re-election,” Khanna wrote.
The letter appeared to be a last-ditch effort to stifle Kennedy’s important campaign. Democrats and his family have repeatedly pressured him to withdraw, citing the same concerns as Khanna. But to no avail.

Nicole Shanahan responds
The fact that Khanna went to CBS News to report on it is quite remarkable. He wrote the letter but did not send it to Robert Kennedy’s running mate. However, no matter what.
“He expressed his thoughts to her in a letter shared with CBS News, although he has not yet sent it to Shanahan,” the outlet revealed.
This is confusing because he knew full well that the outlet would contact Shanahan for comment. They did it. They dutifully served as personal messengers for Democratic congressmen.
And she blasted him on social media.
The far-left candidate called Khanna out and said he initially encouraged her to run but apparently forcefully tried to force her out.
“In my conversation with Rowe, he congratulated me on the position and encouraged me to run, saying that every American has the right to run in this country,” she wrote. “He said we live in a democracy and it would be wrong for anyone to threaten me not to run.”
“Obviously, Rockey changed his position under pressure from his party,” Shanahan added. “I hope he understands how anti-democratic it is to ask someone to withdraw from a race that gives the American public the power to decide for themselves.”
She went on to express disappointment at Khanna’s behavior, adding that he could have simply called her to discuss it.

RFK interjects
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised Nicole Shanahan for standing up to Democratic pressure to withdraw.
He also suggested that political parties claiming to be the great defenders of democracy are actually trying to weaken it.
“I have always admired Ro Cana,” he wrote on the X. The party has the ability to shake people of character.
This is not the first time Kennedy has suggested that Democrats pose a greater threat to democracy than Republican presidential candidate Trump.
“I would say President Biden poses a more serious threat to democracy,” he told CNN in a recent interview.

Biden has tried to distance himself from Robert Kennedy. By any measure, both men are far-left Democrats. But Kennedy offers a legitimate alternative to party voters frustrated with Biden’s presidency.
Subsequent polls showed that Kennedy’s name was hurting Biden. Democratic voters were pulled away by his candidacy as an independent.
That’s why they’re so eager for him to leave.
If they can’t force Kennedy out, it seems they will at least try to sabotage his campaign by forcing Nicole Shanahan out.
