Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has been invited to speak at next week’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, but details have not yet been finalized, according to two sources familiar with the decision.
The Republican National Committee, the Trump campaign and Haley’s team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The invitation appears to have been sent out within the past few days.
On Tuesday, Haley released 97 of her delegates so they could support the former president at the convention.
Chani Denton, Haley’s longtime top aide, told NBC News at the time that she “wasn’t invited” to the convention but “she was OK with it.”
“Trump deserves to have the convention he wants,” Denton said. “She made it clear she was going to vote for him and wished him the best.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, another major Trump opponent who has often clashed with the former president, plans to speak at the convention.
