Who impressed for Team GB at the Olympics? We follow every athlete who could win a medal for GB at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris…
UK Sport – the body responsible for allocating public funds to Olympic sports and their athletes – set a target of winning at least 50 medals in Paris, which they achieved on day 12 of the Games with the added hope of finishing first There are five on the medal list.
Team GB’s total will be their lowest since Beijing 2008, when they won 19 golds out of 51 medals. In 2012, Team GB won a record gold medal total of 65 in London, and four years later won a record 67 medals at the Rio Olympics.
GB won 22 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 22 bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and this year’s Olympics may be the team’s lowest number of gold medals since the 2004 Athens Olympics with nine gold medals.
There are still many success stories for Team GB at the 2024 Olympics and across sports, including over 1,000 medals for GB at the modern Summer and Winter Olympics.
