OpenAI is training a new major AI model to replace the current GPT-4.

“OpenAI recently began training its next cutting-edge model, and we expect the resulting system will enable us to reach new levels of capability on the path to AGI,” reads the article published on Tuesday.

OpenAI’s GPT-4 was released in March 2023, a powerful update to GPT-3 that provides support for the successful ChatGPT chatbot launched in November 2022.

In the same article, OpenAI also announced the establishment of a security committee that “will be responsible for making recommendations to the full board of directors on critical security decisions for OpenAI projects and operations.”
The committee will consist of directors Bret Taylor, Nicole Seligman, Adam D’Angelo and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
“While we are proud to build and release models that lead the industry in functionality and safety, we welcome robust debate at this important time,” OpenAI’s post reads.
A few weeks ago, OpenAI launched GPT-4o in April, a multi-modal AI voice assistant that combines text, vision, and audio. The announcement puts the spotlight on ChatGPT’s existing “Sky” option for voice mode, which some have compared to actor Scarlett Johansson’s fictional digital assistant in the 2013 film she -Yes, Johnson heard it too. Voice on ChatGPT is temporarily paused.
Meanwhile, internal politics at OpenAI have reached a boiling point following a leadership crisis, a wave of high-profile resignations and former executives accusing the company of a lack of transparency.
