Buttigieg said on CBS’s “Face The Nation”:
The bottom line is that the revolution will happen with or without us. We have to make sure this is American-led, and that’s what the president is focused on. Under the Trump administration, they have allowed China to establish an advantage in the electric vehicle industry. But under President Biden’s leadership, we will ensure that this revolution will be American-made. Electric vehicle revolution
We are talking.
President Biden said he’s also going to make sure we invest in U.S. production capacity, make sure we support or friend procurement and support the materials and processing of these electric vehicles so that the U.S. owns those processes. Because look, we’re not going to get to the middle of this century with the technology we relied on a century ago. Now, there are clearly many in Washington interested in maintaining the status quo. He said it would be one of the first things he does and he’s glad to see Americans stuck with dirty and expensive fuel. But the reality is, I know he made a lot of promises to oil and gas companies.

Buttigieg’s larger point is that Trump is taking the country backwards. Donald Trump doesn’t care about progress or advancement. Donald Trump is about American failure. Trump wants the United States to lose to China. Trump will make the United States fall behind China. Trump will take away good American jobs and raise taxes on the poor and middle class with his tariff plan.
Buttigieg suggests Donald Trump is not the future. The former president is a return to the past, and his return to the White House is bad for America’s future.
