Image and video editing platform Picsart has partnered with Getty Images to launch a “responsible, commercially safe” artificial intelligence image generator specifically trained on the stock imaging platform’s licensed content.
Picsart said its AI lab is building a custom model from scratch to power the tool, allowing paying subscribers to the platform to produce images with full commercial rights, aiming to address long-standing concerns about AI-generated images. Concern that content violates copyright laws. The Picsart / Getty Images generator tool is expected to be launched “later this year” and will be accessible through Picsart’s API service.
Getty has previously developed other business-focused AI products, announcing similar partnerships with Bria AI and Runway, as well as working with Nvidia to launch its own “Generative AI by Getty Images” tool and building on its massive Train on a library of licensed images. However, given that Adobe has rolled out its Firefly models into extremely popular apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Express, it may be difficult to convince creatives to switch to Picsart’s upcoming product.
