A pilot and six passengers jumped from a small plane before the plane crashed in a Missouri field on Saturday, according to federal authorities.
The single-engine Cessna U206C crashed near Butler Memorial Airport around 1 p.m., the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told Fox Digital News in a statement.
There are few details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The agency said preliminary information suggested the plane was on a “parachute mission” and that the pilot and all passengers escaped before the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed to Fox News Digital that there were seven people on board the plane when it took off.
The pilot who parachuted from the plane was located in a hangar at the airport, according to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office. According to KCTV, six passengers also parachuted from the plane before the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office said paramedics treated the pilot and passenger at the scene before all were released.
First responders found the wreckage in a grassy area east of the airport runway, according to the Sheriff’s Office, which called the plane a “total loss.”
NTSB investigators will recover the wreckage and take it to an offsite facility for further examination.
