Pro-Palestinian protesters briefly closed the 405 Freeway in west Los Angeles during rush hour Tuesday morning.
Just after 9 a.m., the group sat in the lane blocking traffic, bringing southbound traffic to a standstill on the freeway, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs.
Protesters are calling on the United States to end its support for Israel’s deadly war in Gaza.
If Not Now’s Los Angeles chapter shared photos of protesters holding signs on the highway.
“To everyone stuck in traffic, we sincerely apologize for the disruption this has caused to your day,” the group said in its Instagram post. “We feel particularly sorry for the working class whose lives have been affected. As a cross-class organization , we have a deep understanding of the impact of this behavior, yet we also know that what hurts the working class more than traffic stops is that our tax dollars are used to fund military aid to Israel while working families are in our own communities. But it is difficult to make ends meet.
