The spring transfer portal window has closed and with fall rosters finalized, many moves have been made. Here are the five biggest linebackers to enter the transfer portal this offseason.
1. Elijah Herring, Memphis
Tennessee’s loss is Memphis’ big gain here, as Herring led the Volunteers with 79 tackles last season and is currently the highest-ranked linebacker in the transfer portal. Herring, a top linebacker who really emerged in the SEC, left Tennessee for no clear reason, but it could be because of a change in position coaching. Either way, the Tigers are getting a top player who could be an immediate contributor to the Memphis defense.

2. Marvin Jones Jr., Florida
Jones, a five-star prospect in the 2022 class and a legend at Florida State, came to Georgia with a lot of hype and the potential to be a big player on the Bulldogs’ defense, but it never really materialized. After converting from edge rusher to linebacker, where Jones also didn’t have much success, he’s now headed to Florida State, where he seriously considered starting over during his recruiting process.

3. Jarmon Dumars-Johnson, Kentucky
Could Dumars-Johnson be a transfer goalie at the defense position? Georgia’s defense is absolutely formidable, totaling 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks in just nine games last season. The former four-star prospect from Baltimore (Md.) St. Francis, who had 126 tackles and 9.5 sacks in his career at Georgia, now remains in the SEC at Kentucky and could be a key piece for the Wildcats defense One member.

4. Jeshawn Barham, Michigan
Losing Barham is a huge blow to Maryland’s defense, but a huge gain for Michigan State, with the former four-star linebacker from Baltimore (Md.) St. Francis in Water The Turtles totaled 95 tackles and seven sacks in his first two seasons. The Wolverines haven’t taken advantage of the transfer portal as much as other teams, especially at defensive back, and Barham remains the only linebacker they brought in from there.

5. Tackett Curtis, Wisconsin
USC coach Lincoln Riley After signing Curtis, he said he considered the four-star prospect the best inside linebacker in the country, and he was outstanding as a freshman with 40 tackles, two sacks and two fumble receptions. But Curtis decided to enter the transfer portal as USC, Ohio State and Wisconsin were the last three players he recruited who will now head to the Badgers.
