The Supreme Court has become embroiled in a corruption crisis beyond its control.
Today’s ruling is an attack on American democracy. Congress has a responsibility to defend our country from dictatorship.
I intend to file articles of impeachment upon our return.
These provisions will never be adopted by the Republican House majority, but the AOC can force a floor vote on them because they are a privileged resolution.
The Supreme Court’s conservative majority has become a central issue in the election. The ruling extending presidential immunity to all presidents, not just Trump, poses a threat to democracy. By placing the president above the law, conservatives on the Supreme Court have destroyed the backbone of the American justice system in one fell swoop by erasing the notion that no one is above the law.
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has not specified which judge she will bring articles of impeachment against, but Clarence Thomas is certain and Samuel Alito is almost certain.
This election is critical to American democracy. As the nation remains focused on the presidential race, AOC’s articles of impeachment demonstrate that control of Congress is just as important to safeguarding America’s democratic future.
