Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) has a message for Democrats nervous about Biden’s debate performance. He advised Democrats to calm down.
According to Dylan Wells of The Washington Post, Clyburn told reporters:
Rep. Jim Clyburn said he plans to speak with Biden today and tell him to “stay the course.”
“There’s no better Democrat,” he said, instructing nervous Democrats to “calm down.”
The worst thing Democrats can do is undercut Biden’s debate performance. Biden and his party should learn from the debate. Biden should use this debate as a lesson to adjust his campaign.
The president should do more campaigning and public appearances. It really helps that he takes questions from viewers and reporters at some of the nationally televised town halls.
All in all, fears and suggestions that President Biden should be removed from the slate of candidates are exaggerated. Clyburn is right. Democrats do need to calm down, but Biden and his party shouldn’t ignore what happened in the debate.
