this Oklahoma Sooners Big promises were made on Tuesday.
Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert four-star cornerback Tristan Hines announced his commitment to an in-state power. The Rivals250 prospect immediately established himself as one of the top players in the Sooners’ 2025 recruiting class. Haynes received nearly 20 scholarship offers from across the country.
Haynes is the 15th defensive back from Oklahoma State and the fourth following Malik Hawkins, Courtland Guillory and Marcus Wimberly.
Carl Alberts stands out as a versatile athlete who performs in all three areas of the game: offense, defense and special teams.
In the secondary, Haynes will be a considerable asset as the Sooners head to the SEC. At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, he has proven that he is not only capable, but willing to be an active contributor in run defense. He’s athletic and can get away from blocks and use his body to knock down the ball carrier. In the air, Haynes uses his length and elite ball skills to defend passes. In two seasons on the varsity, he had five interceptions and 12 tackles for loss. Another valuable skill for Haynes is his ability to find the ball in different areas of the field. Even if he’s not the target defender, he can impact the game.
In his junior season, Haynes was the primary weapon at wide receiver, catching 45 passes for 1,009 yards and 12 touchdowns. Haynes showed off his skills with the ball in his hands and directing traffic to gain yardage.
Another addition to Haynes is return game potential. Haynes was a monster on Carl Albert’s receiving end, returning four kickoffs and two punt returns for touchdowns over the past two seasons. In his junior season, he averaged 39.2 yards per kickoff return and 39.1 yards per punt return. Haynes is a major asset in the secondary but a potential difference-maker in the return game.
The Sooners are building one of the best in the 2025 class. While the addition of Haynes doesn’t move them any further up the rankings, they are one step closer to breaking into the top three. With Haynes joining, they now have a class of 1,633 points, just 94 points behind third-place LSU.
Oklahoma now has 12 four-star prospects and three three-star prospects.
Haynes is the fourth Rivals250 member in the Sooners class, joining Elijah Thomas, Trent Wilson and Kevin Sperry.
