Rivals250 SAF CJ Jimcoily commits to LSU
CJ Jimcoily has spent much of the summer thinking about his commitment, and with his senior year about to begin, his decision is just around the corner.
Jim Coyley committed to the Tigers on Thursday after seriously considering Stanford and LSU. LSU, ranked No. 20 SAF in Tennessee’s Rivals250, has been on the rise since Jim Curley officially visited Baton Rouge in mid-June.
Jim Curley has been considering his decision for weeks. The Tigers didn’t let the blue-chip defensive prospect lead to his decision.
“This is a continuation of building those relationships,” Jim Curley told opponent He’s committed to LSU.
“Write it down, write down the pros, the cons, the benefits you can get, the developments, go into every detail of each school. The icing on the cake is prayer,” he continued. “The football side is a big thing. So is the LSU brand. I’m a man of faith and I prayed until I felt it.”
“When you know it, you know it,” laughed Jim Curley, “and I feel that way too.”
Stanford, Alabama and Tennessee were the four finalists for Jimcoily, who stood 6-foot-3 and weighed 210 pounds during his official visit to LSU in June.
The Rivals250 safety from Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb College developed strong bonds with multiple members of the Tigers coaching staff during his visit in March. His relationship with the safeties coach Jack Olson, assistant frank wilson and HC Brian Kelly He furthered this process following his official visit in the summer.
“I’ve been in contact with Coach Olson almost every day since the official visit, expressing their interest,” Jim Curley said. “At LSU, it’s that family atmosphere. At LSU, they treat you like family — that’s very obvious. They’ve always done that to me. I get that same atmosphere from here, too. . Buck. Especially when I’m with him, I can hear the passion in his voice, it’s contagious. The opportunity to continue talking to him and for them to show interest was very important to me.
“LSU is ‘DBU,’ and I grew up seeing it as a place to grow and be held to the same standards,” he continued. “The LSU brand speaks for itself. It’s unique. LSU is the NFLSU and there are a lot of things associated with it – the coaches and their dedication to the players off the field and on the field.” Two things are important.
The opportunity to return to Tennessee with a degree from Stanford University was interesting for Jim Curley and his family. The Cardinals set the standard for safety recruiting after heading to Palo Alto for his first official visit.
The Tigers made short work of Stanford, giving the Rivals250 defensive back a chance to develop on the field and pursue his ambitions.
One of the catalysts was LSU associate head coach Wilson from New Orleans, who coached Jim Coyley’s father at OP Walker High School a few years ago.
“In a career in college football, knowing that I have someone that I’m connected to, knowing that I have someone who cares about me more than football is critical,” he began. “I knew my dad and had a relationship with him and then passed that on to me…Frank Wilson is a big name in college football and the NFL. For him to be a guy that can help me People in football and life, pursuing my ambitions and things outside of football… there are not enough words to express my gratitude.
“Opening up with Frank Wilson and Brian Kelly. When I first spoke to them they were so impressed with my priorities outside of football that they mentioned that to me and built my confidence,” Jim Coe Eli explained. “He cared about what I wanted to do outside of football and was most interested in me… At LSU, the most important thing is the connections, the name, the brand and the spotlight that they have. I talked to them about what’s most important Things that have a name in business, connections that I can make, build my brand and my business, and focus on that aspect, and during the official visit, I had the opportunity to talk to the counselor and focus on the academics to me. Explaining everything about the path I would take and the opportunities outside of football to promote my business.
After nearly two months of careful consideration, Jim Curley has made the decision to join the Tigers.
He told The Rival that he would wait until he was 100 percent sure before making a decision.
“This is a very difficult decision. It comes down to LSU and Stanford, which have the highest level of education, the highest level of football and experience,” he elaborated. “At the end of the day, the meeting with Frank Wilson was the most important thing. He walked me through how to make those connections, meet these people and shake their hands. LSU showed interest in me as a person and helped I move forward with my goals.
