Hartford, Connecticut – New England Showcase gives Northeastern high schools the opportunity to gain exposure to as many college coaches as possible. This series of practices is timed so that coaches and scouts can travel from school to school without missing any school on the schedule, giving Rivals.com the opportunity to get an up-close look at the area’s most popular Recruited rookies.
Monday is the first day of the three-day event. Connecticut schools are in the spotlight, and national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman was on hand to get the latest news and notes.
Augustin is locked into Notre Dame and will take an official visit the weekend of June 14th. He mentioned that he hopes to recruit wide receiver Derrick Meadows to Notre Dame.

A large group of coaches gathered to watch Black work out, and Notre Dame’s performance was impressive. He has the frame to play tackle or guard in college and has displayed good athletic skills, which should give him a short learning curve when he arrives in South Bend. Black is a quicker, stronger prospect than he was when he was previously evaluated in person. On the recruiting front, Black is locked in with Notre Dame.He has a very close relationship with the offensive line coaches Joe Rudolph and declined other programs to maintain contact with him.

Herbert will enter the fall with something to prove. The Clemson’s junior season didn’t go as planned due to a broken ankle, but he’s fully recovered and ready to go for his senior season. Herbert is firmly committed to the Tigers and is actively recruiting players for them. Without hesitation or thought, Herbert quickly named offensive linemen David Sanders Jr. and Mal Waldrep as prospects he hoped to recruit to the Tigers. The two are expected to take official visits to Clemson the same weekend as Herbert.

Like teammate C.J. Bell, Houston will visit Rutgers on May 31 and Boston College on June 14. Official visit to the university. He hopes to commit on Sept. 9, just before his senior season.

On Monday, Johnson ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash in front of college coaches. The speedy, versatile receiver is considering official visits to Rutgers on May 31 and Duke on June 21 and could make changes to his recruitment based on a closer look from college coaches. Plan more trips.

Long is steadfast in his commitment to Notre Dame and has turned his attention to recruiting other prospects for South Bend. His target was defensive back Mark Zachary. Long is looking forward to meeting Ivan Taylor and a few others during his official visit. The Notre Dame coaching staff has been comparing Long to Kyle Hamilton, a former All-American and current All-Pro safety with the Baltimore Ravens.

Syracuse accepted Pre’s commitment in March, but little is known about his performance on the court. During Monday’s practice, the former basketball star proved he has the size, strength and coordination necessary to justify coaches taking a shot at him. Prey doesn’t play much football, so the learning curve will be steep, but the rewards could be huge because of his athleticism.

Roach has drawn interest from college coaches throughout the recruiting cycle, so Monday’s event is a big stage for him. Vanderbilt and West Virginia are currently just two of his top contenders, but that could change if more teams get involved. Roach will spend the next week or two planning the rest of the offseason.
