The pre-order period runs until Wednesday, July 10, and even if you place a pre-order, you’re not obligated to buy a new phone if you change your mind. However, those who do will receive a $50 credit that can be used on Samsung’s website or Shop Samsung app (as long as you purchase using the same email address you used to pre-order).
While Samsung doesn’t usually take too long to discount its new foldable phones, and $50 may not be a huge discount on a phone that typically sells for between $1,000 and $1,800, but if you think I will choose one and pre-order it before it goes on sale.
If rumors, leaks, and the FCC are to be believed, it appears that the yet-to-be-released Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 will receive mostly incremental updates. The pricier Z Fold will likely adopt a more square design, making it look boxier, but it will likely maintain its tall, remote-like stance and offer a small tablet experience when unfolded. The Flip 6 will likely come with a bigger battery, which I’m sure would be welcome in any device.
We’ll have to see if Samsung surprises us with any curveballs, especially since there’s more talk and hype surrounding the AI software capabilities.
