Earlier this spring, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek three-star outside linebacker Anthony “Deuce” Williams walked away from a four-month commitment to Texas. Now, nearly two months later, Williams has committed to a new plan.
Williams announced his commitment to the TCU Horned Frogs on Friday night.
The Horned Frogs were the program that took momentum after his retirement at Texas, and now the Fort Worth program has won. Williams received a total of 20 offers during his recruitment.
Williams talked to his opponent to break his commitment to the Horned Frogs.
“Ken Wilson He’s been recruiting me since I came to Texas, and he’s never stopped recruiting me. This may be one of the main reasons [to commit] And my connection with the entire staff. I have a good relationship with all the staff.
“I’ve been to TCU several times, both before the new staff came and the old staff, it’s a great group of people. TCU is a great place, a great school, and a great education.”
Williams is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and can play multiple positions. He showed the ability to rush the passer, cover the flats and defend the run. As he gains weight, he is considering playing some more traditional linebacker roles.
“[TCU] Depending on the offensive plan, I’ll move into different types of positions. Sometimes they would put me at MIKE, but they would also move me around. I can also play the outside position with them, so that’s really a plus.
Williams will travel four hours north from the Houston area to Fort Worth. He said TCU’s position played a big role in selecting the Horned Frogs.
“It’s such a blessing to still be in my home state of Texas. Just being home and being close to my family and having my family come watch me play has made a big difference for me.”
TCU has been the favorite to land Williams’ commitment since he began recruiting. But before that happened, he had the idea of committing to TCU.
“Being a head coach sonny dykesCoach Ken Wilson, and Coach (Paul) Gonzalez Everybody came to see me during those early contacts and that played a big role in getting the head coach to come see me. When that happened, I knew I had a lightbulb moment in my head that these guys were really trying to recruit me and get me to come to TCU.
