Manaea (8-4), who allowed six hits and no runs, has thrown 14 scoreless innings and struck out 21 batters in his past two starts. Ryne Stanek and Edwin Diaz each pitched a hitless inning of relief in support of Manaea.

Manaea allowed a double to Nolan Arenado in the bottom of the inning, but he retired the next two batters, leaving him stranded.
The Cardinals threatened again in the third inning with Pedro Pages’ first single and Tommy Pham’s two-out single. But Manaea struck out Wilson Contreras to avoid danger.
Manaea stranded two more runners in the fourth inning, striking out Pages after two singles by Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan.
In the fifth inning, the Mets extended their lead to 5-0. McNeil singled, advanced to second on Francisco Alvarez’s single and scored on Harrison Bader’s double.
After Francisco Lindor loaded the bases, Taylor used his double to clear the bases.
McNeil homered to right in the sixth inning, extending New York’s lead to 6-0. This is his tenth of the season.
