Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) flipped the script on Trump and the Republican Party when asked about Biden and law and order on Fox News Sunday.
Shannon Bream asked Coons: “So you’re talking about law and order. Will this president respect this court’s January 6 ruling on presidential immunity, or will he cherry-pick his preferred decision from the Supreme Court?”
“Look, I think there’s a stark contrast between former President Trump and President Biden in terms of their respect for the rule of law and their approach to law enforcement and the legal system,” Senator Coons responded. Former President Trump repeatedly attacked prosecutors in New York court He was placed under a gag order before he was ultimately convicted of 34 felonies by a jury of his peers. President Biden, and we saw evidence of this last week when his son was convicted in a court in Wilmington, Delaware, has never attacked, criticized, or questioned the judge, prosecutors, jury, and process. “

Trump considers “law and order” to be one of his big strengths on issues, but it’s not a good idea to talk about law and order when a candidate has been convicted of 34 felonies.
Fox News Sunday attempted to draw a false equivalence between the two candidates, while Senator Coons reversed course and pointed out that the real law and order candidate was President Biden. The candidate who refuses to respect this country’s laws and judicial process is Donald Trump.
If Donald Trump is the Republican emissary, the law and order argument could ultimately backfire and hurt the party.
