When asked by CNN’s Dana Bash if he thought Biden could become Trump, Murphy said:
Oh, absolutely. Look, I think the president needs to answer the questions voters are asking. If he does that this week, I think he’ll be in a very good position and we can get back to what we need in this campaign to connect Joe Biden, who is a decent, honorable man of character, to Compare that to Donald Trump (a pathological liar). But again, if the president is unwilling to take the actions necessary to restore voters’ confidence or answer their questions, then he certainly can decide what the best path forward for the country is. But if he answers these questions this week, there’s no doubt he can win this game.

By voters, Murphy is referring to Democrats who say in polls they think Biden is too old to do the post-debate job. Biden’s problem is not the electorate at large, but fearful Democrats on Capitol Hill who fan the flames of fear and scare their own voters.
Biden has two campaign events in Pennsylvania and a press conference this week, but that shouldn’t be the end. Trump is not a campaign. The Biden campaign needs their candidate to host a lot of events and get in front of voters. Biden needs to do campaign events, interviews and town halls. President Biden has a chance to surpass Trump, and if he does so, not only will he reassure voters and elected Democrats, but he will also be in an excellent position to win.
