After Senate Republicans blocked the bipartisan border security bill from advancing in a 43-50 vote, Senator Fetterman said: “I voted for this bill again because I know we have to secure our border and this The bill will help do that, but I’m tired of this political drama. Campaign on the issue rather than actually solving it.
Democrats should continue to introduce border security bills before the 2024 election. If Republicans want to campaign on border security, then Democrats should campaign on their solutions to ensure border security that Republicans won’t vote for. The next question Republicans should face is what their plan is for securing the border.
Apparently, their plan to secure the border is the Senate Bipartisan Border Bill, and Donald Trump won’t let them pass because he focused his presidential campaign on this issue.
Fetterman is right. This is the political stage for Republicans to try to take back control of the Senate. However, if Biden and the Democrats win in November, the border bill that Republicans twice rejected should be gone forever.
