Eight Republican senators, including J.D. Vance, Mike Lee and Tommy Tuberville, have vowed not to work with Democrats on anything that has nothing to do with national security or safety.

Here is the senator’s statement:
Strongly worded statements are not enough.
Those who turn our justice system into a political cudgel must be held accountable.
We are no longer collaborating with any Democratic legislative priorities or nominations, and we invite all relevant senators to join us in our position. pic.twitter.com/H0CzIjXgwC

The letter was also signed by MAGA Senators Marsha Blackburn, Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, Roger Marshall and Eric Schmidt.
None of the eight names on the letter is surprising. Trump is not as popular with Republicans in the Senate as he is in the House, but he does have his supporters in the upper chamber of Congress.
The letter is a political gesture that actually means nothing. The Republicans who signed the letter are not known for bipartisanship and cooperation, and the document is a grandstanding political statement that reflects the anger within MAGA over Trump’s conviction.
The federal government had no role in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s conviction and prosecution of Trump.
Republicans are expected to unleash more of these empty tantrums and gestures as they try to appease and engage an audience with a newly convicted felon.
