The 4,000-member San Francisco Association of Realtors (SFAR) is working with a software application called Sidekick that uses artificial intelligence to automate a range of business operations for real estate agents. Inman shared the news in a May 6 press release.
Launching in late 2023, the product is designed to help the industry quickly obtain market data and insights and quickly perform home valuations and many other business tasks from it, which the press release describes as being “10 times faster” with a virtual assistant that costs less than one tenth.
Sidekick is developed by Avenue 8, a boutique brokerage based in San Francisco.
“It’s critical that agents demonstrate value in two areas: specific knowledge and speed,” Sidekick co-founder Michael Martin told Inman in a November email. “Many people have the former, but the latter is a Limitations. Even if you’ve been in the industry for 20-30 years, the ability to quickly generate, analyze, and assemble information across multiple modalities is extremely challenging. It’s not about having a personality, a face, or a name – it’s about functionality. It’s about speed.
Martin is also co-CEO of Avenue 8, which has offices in the Bay Area, the greater Los Angeles area, New York City and Palm Springs, with more to come. In November, he shared the company’s plans, which included the company’s intention to launch Sidekick as a standalone product.
Martin said San Francisco is a hub for artificial intelligence, so it makes sense to offer the technology to the city’s most prominent associations first.
“The rise of generative artificial intelligence is already changing the way agents work, and in the wake of anticipated changes in the way agents earn commissions, Sidekick will empower agents, teams and brokerages in all the critical tasks of supporting clients and clients. Way.
Partnering with an association of REALTORS is a proven way for technology companies to gain exposure, user feedback, and, of course, sales. This connection is especially fortuitous given Sidekick’s origins.
SFAR members can use their new app to create CMAs, publish market reports, search listings, create their own real estate marketing content through their computer vision talents, and even manage calendars and email. According to the press release, using the app simply teaches it more skills and each user’s preferences for using it.
“Sidekick is a fascinating tool that will give San Francisco real estate professionals a competitive advantage, allowing them to get their work done faster without sacrificing accuracy,” SFAR Chief Technology Officer Jay Pepper-Martens said in a press release. “Their novel way of using the latest artificial intelligence technology to access a complex set of agent tools is not only powerful, but also fun to use.”
The app is built on OpenAI products rather than just repackaged ones, in line with Avenue 8’s oft-repeated mantra to improve an experience so bad it’s been the subject of multiple lawsuits challenging How agents get paid.
Sidekick was named “Best Artificial Intelligence Application” in the “Products & Services” and “Work & Productivity” categories across all submitting industries at the 28th Annual Webby Awards.
