Indianapolis – Rival Training Camp Series After spending the weekend in the Indianapolis area, hungry athletes from the Midwest jumped at the chance. Let’s take a look at some of the takeaways from this training camp:
Beef is in town
The prospect in the trenches passed the eye test on Sunday. Others in the camp made some comments about how many beautiful linemen there were in the camp. When you come to the Midwest, there should be some beef up front, and Indianapolis is right up there.
There were some great matchups in one-on-one matches. Louisiana’s 2026 defensive tackle Dylan Berymon had a solid performance against 2025 Louisville offensive lineman Jake Cook.
There are many wingers who didn’t win MVP honors or Ballon d’Or but caught the attention of many. That includes Triston Abram and Drayden Peavy on the defensive line. Also on the offensive line are Chauncey Gooden, Adam Gussey and Rico Schrieber.

The rise of young talent
There were a lot of great seniors-to-be representing the Class of 2025 on Sunday. But one thing that impressed me was the quality of talent coming to Indianapolis from the class of 2026 and beyond to compete.
Tommy Toffee, Ben Nichols, Maxwell Robinson, Adam Guthrie and Rico Schrieber are all rising prospects on the offensive line in 2026. There are two 2027 rookies on the defensive line that we will be keeping an eye on. Defensive ends Roy Price and Jaylen Mercer have shown real passing skills at such a young age.
Rashaud Holland, Amari Sabb, Zyntreacs Otey, Kyndrick Williams and Chaston Smith are among the standout defensive backs in the 2026 training camp class one. Carson Sneed and Tyreek King are two standout pass catchers in the 2026 class. Cam Thomas and Keenan Harris, both 2026 rookies, won the home linebacker award.
There is a lot of young talent in the Midwest to keep an eye on.

Plenty of quarterbacks
I always say one thing that gets overlooked in the Midwest is how good the quarterbacks are in the area. Ohio State four-star Tavien St. Clair showed why he’s one of the best signal-callers in the country. But the camp was deep in this position.
Central South Analyst for a time Marshall Levenson He turned to me and said, “Is it just me, or are there a lot of good weapons here?”
It’s not just him.
Illinois’ Carson Boyd was impressive all day long. The same goes for Ohio State’s 2026 four-star prospect Nathan Bernhard. Colton Gumino has become one to watch this summer and is having a big offseason. Rocco Williams is a crafty left-handed quarterback from Ohio State. 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor has a bright future.
Jamison Kitna, Ethan Plumb, Emile Picarella and Cooper Kmet also had quality days in training camp.
