In fact, Roam 2 isn’t a huge upgrade. As far as I can tell, it has the same acoustic architecture (and sound), but now it has two buttons – one for power and the other for Bluetooth – instead of a single power button. With the Bluetooth button, you can instantly pair the speaker with any Bluetooth-enabled audio device. Previously, setup was more complicated and required you to connect to a Sonos home Wi-Fi network first.
The Roam 2 now has two buttons on the back, including a new Bluetooth button.
Additionally, the Sonos logo now sports a softer, monochromatic design that matches the color of the speaker. On previous models, the logo was highlighted in white.
Sonos also announced that it is making updates and bug fixes to the Sonos app. The Sonos app gets some improvements to improve the connection experience for the company’s portable speakers, including larger speakers move 2 and the new Sonos Ace headphones, which will ship on June 5 (read our first review of the Sonos Ace ). However, the revamped app has flaws and is missing some features that Sonos users love. As a result, Sonos has received a lot of negative feedback lately.
