Watch Gateway Pundit’s Trump Bronx event
The far-left media watchdog Media Matters for America (MMFA) is laying off about a dozen employees as it faces a series of federal investigations and defamation lawsuits.
The stated goal of the MMFA is to try to “expose” conservative media organizations like The Gateway Pundit and deprive them of their platform and advertising revenue.
On Thursday, employees confirmed on the X platform that they had been fired, with one appearing to blame Musk for her firing.
“Bad news: @mmfa fired me, along with a dozen colleagues. There’s a reason the far-right billionaire attacks Media Matters with an army of lawyers: They know how effective our work is, and it scares them ,” employee Kat Abughazaleh wrote, apparently referring to Musk.

“After almost four years in the media, I was laid off,” another employee added. “So if anyone is looking for a researcher with video experience, please leave a message.”

“Being fired, I wanted to finish the research,” researcher Brendan Carrette added. “The good thing is, you no longer have to listen to the stupidest shit in the world every day.”

“Journalism has achieved a monumental achievement (getting fired),” former writer Bobby Lewis wrote.

Prominent left-wing researcher Jared Holt urged other organizations to poach those who were laid off.

While there is no evidence that the layoffs are directly related to Elon Musk or the ongoing investigation, one can safely assume that the layoffs did not improve the organization’s financial health.
Musk filed a defamation lawsuit against the MMFA in federal court last November, accusing them of manipulating images to show ads from major companies alongside posts by white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
Meanwhile, Missouri’s attorney general filed a separate lawsuit last December for engaging in deceptive business practices and refusing to cooperate with an ongoing investigation.
