Colbert played a clip of Trump saying, “I agree with that. I don’t know that the public is going to tolerate it, you know. I’m not sure the public is going to support this. I think it’s going to be hard for the public to accept.”
The late night show host responded: “Oh, this is going to be difficult for the “public”. Actually,I happen to have large public it’s here. Hey, public, what are you doing? Do you think Trump will go to jail?
Audience: “Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!” Lock it up!
“Ladies and gentlemen, you understand, I didn’t say ‘Lock him up,'” Colbert said. People said, “Lock him up.”
What’s puzzling is that Trump still believes he has such massive public support when the reality is otherwise. Trump was unable to get his fans to attend his trial. Trump keeps promising massive public support that never materializes.
At some point, even Trump has to realize that he’s not as popular as he thought.
