Steve Redmond, executive vice president of global corporate communications at BMG, is resigning from the company after 12 years.
The highly regarded PR executive and media consultant is credited with shaping the company’s image and helping to define its positioning, during which revenue more than quadrupled and it became one of the largest international music companies outside the Big Three. .
BMG said a successor will be announced soon.
During his tenure, Redmond led communications for more than 100 acquisitions and worked with former CEO Hartwig Masuch to advocate for the company’s equity initiatives for artists and songwriters.
Most recently, he led internal and external communications regarding the transition to new CEO Thomas Coesfeld and the company’s new strategy.
Redmond subsequently settled in his native London and began consulting for BMG. 2012.
He transferred to BMG headquarters in January 2016 as senior vice president of global corporate communications, and was promoted to executive vice president of global corporate communications in 2021.
With thirty years of experience in corporate communications and media for the music industry, Raymond served first as editor and then publisher of Music Week magazine in the nineties.
In the early 2000s, Raymond spent four years at BPI, the British record label trade association, as communications and development director before moving on to a successful career as an independent media consultant.
