The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed that 27 illegal immigrants were discovered being smuggled into a horse trailer during a routine traffic check in Texas on Friday.
Officials posted a video on X showing a DPS trooper stopping a Ford 250 towing a horse trailer on US-281 in Hidalgo County on Friday.
Police identified the driver as Jose Guadalupe Salinas, of Palmview, Texas.
When asked what was in the trailer, Salinas told the officer he had two horses in the trailer.

The officer then requested permission to search the trailer.
Salinas told the officer to “be careful, they’re being aggressive” and then proactively opened the side hatch for the officer.
During the search, police found 27 people crowded into the trailer’s storage area. “They were in pain and sweating profusely.”
