Over the past few months, Delicious food in the dungeon Already airing on Netflix. Adapted from the manga of the same name by Kui Liangzi, adapted by Studio Trigger (the team behind it) Promare and cyberpunk edgerunner) is a really good watch and just finished its first season last Thursday. Fans need not worry about the future of the show, as Trigger revealed shortly after the finale aired second season is already in production, with trailers and posters hinting at what’s to come.
This is good news, both because it relieves stress on viewers and because Delicious food in the dungeon really good. If you haven’t seen it yet, the storyline goes like this: a group of adventurers set out in a giant dungeon to rescue their friends who were accidentally captured by an evil dragon. Turning point? They kill monsters layer by layer and cook them to eat, mainly because it saves what little money they have, but also because leader Leos has always wanted to do this and now is a good time to do it. Spurred on by Sensi, the dwarf cook, the rest of the team – the elf wizard Malsil, the half-legged (think hobbit) rogue Kilchak and the eventual catwoman ninja Izumi – have no choice but to chime in.
delicious The show takes things mostly lightheartedly, but when things get ready, it reveals its darker side. The whole thing has a Cartoon Network vibe: The episode’s title and running style could almost easily be broken into 11-minute segments, and the comedy is largely based on the characters’ quirks and their reactions to each other. It’s all very charming, further helped by the interesting voice acting from both Japanese and English voice actors. The dubbed version is simply delightful and makes a series with an already wacky premise even more unhinged, thanks in large part to Damian Haas’s Leos and Emily Rudd’s ever-emphatic Mal. Sir.
The show is expected to become a mainstream anime hit in 2024, e.g. spy x family and became a huge success on Netflix. That’s largely thanks to its weekly posting schedule, which helps build a community, and likewise, its silly moments that go viral and are so weird you can’t help but check them out. It doesn’t hurt that it won’t last forever: Season 1 ends at the halfway point of the comic, which itself has 14 volumes and 97 chapters. So if you need something to serve as comfort junk food TV, make you laugh through its characters’ banter or the occasional visual slapstick moment, and ease you into it with a pair of incredible catchy opening songyou can’t go wrong Delicious food in the dungeon.
