When you have a dog that requires near-constant attention, you do whatever it takes to keep them busy for a few minutes. I use this jigsaw puzzle just for this purpose. You can hide treats in three rotating trays and let your dog work hard to get rewards. My puppy has to rotate the tray with his nose to reveal the compartments, which I hope will keep his brain sharp since he has to solve problems to get all the treats. I have the level 2 (intermediate) version and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. –-Sarah Mitroff

This toy is durable and has everything you need to keep your dog happy forever. With a string and some squeaks inside to attract and hold their attention, it usually ends up being a cuddle toy for my dogs. –——Theodore Ligian

Banjo gets anxious when left alone, but like most Labs, he Very Food driven. Mochi, our little guy, is an extreme chewer. If he doesn’t have anything to chew on, he’ll start chewing holes in the carpet in our living room. So when I know I’m going to be gone for a few hours, I get Kong out. I stuffed them with mozzarella cheese or peanut butter (or both) and both of my dogs were happy the entire time I was gone. –——Desiree Denunzio
My dog is a beast when it comes to toys and it almost ruined her Every We give her a toy within a day or two. That is until we came across the Kong Extreme range of dog toys that fit her perfectly and kept her happy. We can use it as a reward when she does a good job today and fill it with peanut butter. It comes in a few different shapes and sizes and she seems to like them all! –— Jared DePaine

Most stuffed animals are no match for my dog Junebug, who will tear them to shreds in minutes. This ball of fluff and tuff will take her weeks to loosen. So she became obsessed with it and carried it with her everywhere (even though it was too big for her tiny body – which was a cute bonus). Even if all that’s left of it is a sad, broken, empty shell, she remains true to it. Eventually, I threw it away, bought her a new one, and the cycle began again. Her third beach dance in about a year! Well worth the money. –——Golden into

My dog loves two things (besides her humans): food and toys. This puzzle blends the two together for endless fun. After months of rolling up towels and old t-shirts to make mental stimulation toys for my Chihuahua mix, I received this dog food puzzle as a gift. Now I use it whenever I don’t have the opportunity to take my dog for a long evening walk.
All the removable plastic parts make it look complicated, but it’s actually simple to install. Simply hide your snack or kibble of choice in the hidden compartment, cover it with a plastic door and push the slider through to keep the door closed. I find this to be a great indoor option for my dog to burn some energy and test her brain. –-Alexandra Garrett

My puppy Alistair has been obsessed with his doggy Frisbee for as long as we’ve had him (about 14 years). It’s a disc made of flexible silicone that’s nearly indestructible, as easy for me to throw away as it is for him to retrieve, and thanks to its neon color, it’s easy to find in the brush after being thrown by mistake. Alistair is getting older but still gets excited every time he sees his dogs out playing. If only he could bring it back with as much enthusiasm as he pursued it. –——Jim Hoffman
