vision
A good nanny cam needs to be able to view the entire room easily. Look for a wider field of view, closer to 130 degrees or more if possible. Or you can choose a pan/tilt camera, which can rotate on command to view a larger space.
Motion detection and recognition
Motion detection sends you an alert when the sensor detects significant movement in your field of view. This is important if you want to spot those anxious kids or toddlers who really shouldn’t be up and about at certain times. Object recognition helps identify humans and avoid triggering pets and other potential triggers.
price
For these choices, we favor the more affordable cameras. While security cameras over $100 can come with a variety of features and high resolution, families often look for simpler, more affordable nanny cameras. For those on a larger budget, we also have some higher-end options that offer more features or extra features.
Audio function
Whether you want to talk to your nanny, check on grandma, or remind your kids to stay bent over, two-way audio is a very important feature for a nanny camera. All our options have it.
video storage
Without video storage, you will only see live view. This is a viable option for a nanny cam, especially if you want to avoid subscription fees, but many parents want to be able to store footage for later viewing, sharing, or downloading. If you like this feature, look for a camera that fits your budget and offers a cloud storage subscription, or a local storage option that can store your videos on a hard drive.
