The Republican National Committee has released a party platform that reads like a bunch of vague gibberish because it was written and edited by Donald Trump.
Political coverage:
Trump not only edited the language of the platform but also wrote parts of the 15-page draft himself, according to a person familiar with his involvement. The newly proposed platform is much shorter than the party’s current platform.
During the voice vote, Trump campaign representatives walked around the room with “Vote Yes” signs, while a senior anti-abortion leader offered to do a roll call, according to a person who attended the meeting. The motion to vote failed. Debate time is limited to one minute per speaker. A RNC member present asked Trump campaign and RNC staff why they were taking photos of delegates as they voted.
Trump edited and wrote parts of the platform, and then just to make sure people voted “the right way,” Trump staffers walked around the room taking photos of people as they voted.
None of this is normal or democratic.
What Trump has done with the platform is what a dictator does. Members of the Republican National Committee cannot build and write their own platforms. It was written for them and then they were forced to vote to ensure there was no secret ballot.
While Democrats are freaking out about Joe Biden’s age, what awaits the country is if the party doesn’t get over the panic and start working to win the election.
The Republican platform reads like it was written by a madman who didn’t know what he was talking about, because that’s what it is.
