Downey police are investigating a triple homicide after three apparently homeless men were shot to death near the San Gabriel Riverbed.
On Saturday at 8:50 p.m., the Downey Police Department responded to a shooting on the west side of the San Gabriel Riverbed near Highway 105.
When officers arrived, they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the release.
The Downey Fire Department pronounced all three men dead.
The men ranged in age from 34 to 37 years old.
Officials said the victim “is believed to be homeless and living in the area at the time of the homicide.”
The victim’s identity will not be released until the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office notifies the victim’s next of kin.
The initial news release said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.
Officials said in a follow-up news release that the incident “does not appear to be a random shooting and does not appear to be any threat to the surrounding community.”
Detectives are actively investigating and no further details were available as of late Monday afternoon.
