    It won’t be long before Houston and Chicago come together for a meaningful game, as the two teams are scheduled to face off in Week 2 of the regular season.

    Hopefully then we’ll see No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams take on reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year CJ Stroud in a battle for the league’s most promising young quarterbacks .

    But those two won’t be under center Thursday, which means a pretty ugly game could happen.

    Kansas City Royals vs. Detroit Tigers

    Cade Montero has definitely been through it all over the past three weeks.

    The Detroit right-hander has allowed at least five runs in each of his past three starts and is 0-2 with an 8.80 ERA in that span.

    Things won’t get any easier for Montero on Thursday as he’s scheduled to start against a Kansas City club that’s averaging 5.8 points per game since the All-Star break. The Royals recently scored 22 runs in a three-game series sweep of the White Sox, but Chicago has 57 games under .500, so you can take that as you will.

    Still, Kansas City should have no problem getting into Montero as it continues to try to improve its standing in the American League wild-card race.

    Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Angels

    The stars may have just aligned in Anaheim, California.

    Los Angeles designated hitter Willie Calhoun will have five straight hits against Colorado State on Thursday night and will line up with Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner ) to have a favorable matchup.

    The opposing left-handed batter is batting. He hit 286 home runs against Feltner, who has a road record of 1-7 this season. Coincidentally, all four of Calhoun’s home runs this year have come against right-handers, and the 29-year-old has only hit deep at Angel Stadium.

    Calhoun doesn’t have a lot of popularity, but with all the numbers on his side in this game and even if you risk a little, you can win a lot of money, what’s not to like about this bet?
