Indulge in the flavors of the tropics with this delicious and healthy Tropical Kiwi Smoothie! Packed with antioxidants and sweet flavor, this kiwi smoothie recipe will be the boost you need to start your day.
I start every day with a smoothie. This is one of the easiest ways for me to eat my veggies (and sneak them into my kids) so I don’t have to worry too much about my veggie intake the rest of the day.
That being said, making the same smoothie recipe over and over can get boring. That’s why I’m always sharing new smoothie recipes. As a food blogger for over a decade, I’m constantly innovating, not just for you (my readers!), but for myself too. It keeps things exciting not only professionally but also personally.
This kiwi smoothie has officially been added to the roster…and recipe index!
Why you’ll love this kiwi smoothie
- Vegan + Gluten Free – This smoothie recipe is completely vegan and gluten-free and can be included in almost every diet!
- Great source of fiber + vitamin C – Kiwi contains a lot of dietary fiber and is an excellent source of vitamin C. So stop eating oranges, there’s a new fruit in town!
- Delicious – Even though this smoothie contains many healthy ingredients, it actually tastes delicious! If you’re curious, I’m doing an ingredient swap, but you’re going to love this recipe.
Required raw materials
- kiwi – You can use fresh or frozen kiwi. Be sure to peel it! Technically, you can eat kiwi skin, but I just don’t like the texture.
- pineapple or mango – Both are perfect for this tropical smoothie. You can also use frozen pineapple or frozen mango.
- coconut milk – Coconut milk in cartons or cans works well. If you want a creamier smoothie, opt for cans, but coconut milk in cartons is also delicious.
- spinach – Nutritional supplements! I promise you won’t notice the smell.
- chia seeds – These are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids and also help thicken smoothies.
- ice – You can omit this if using frozen kiwi and frozen pineapple or mango, but I like to add some ice cubes to help thicken my smoothies.
- Mint – This is completely optional! Adding a few sprigs of mint really makes this kiwi smoothie taste like a tropical snack, but you definitely don’t have to add it.
How to Make Kiwi Smoothie
Making this smoothie couldn’t be easier. Simply add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth or desired texture is obtained.
Easy interchange + substitution
exchange fruit – If you prefer to use a different type of fruit instead of pineapple or mango, you can easily substitute them.
Change milk – I like to use coconut milk because it tastes more tropical, but almond milk or oat milk are both great substitutes.
Add protein powder – Looking for a protein supplement? Add a spoonful of your favorite protein powder or even 1/2 cup vanilla or plain Greek yogurt. Please note that using Greek yogurt will mean this is no longer a vegan smoothie, but if you’re happy with that, go for it!
Change seeds – Chia seeds can easily be replaced with ground flax seeds or even hemp seeds.
Meal Prep + Storage
I generally don’t recommend preparing smoothies ahead of time. Having said that, you can prepare the fruit easily – make sure to peel the kiwi and chop the mango or pineapple. You can also choose to freeze everything ahead of time.
As for storing leftovers, this smoothie will keep in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but usually tastes best right after blending.
