This speech was a disaster. Trump is so used to being in his MAGA bubble that he never bothers to come up with anything new to offer liberals to gain this support. He came towards them with the same old MAGA. While he did draw applause at certain points, the Libertarian Party convention was not a typical love-fest like a Trump rally.
What is most telling about Donald Trump in this environment is that he is no longer able to think for himself and improvise. Trump is so obsessed with teleprompters that he fools himself into thinking everyone loves him, so much so that he doesn’t seem to know what to do when faced with real audience rejection.
Instead of demonstrating its strengths, the Liberal Party convention was another self-inflicted wound by Trump, exposing his weaknesses.
