Donald Trump had planned to stay in Chicago during the Republican National Convention, but he will now stay in Milwaukee after reporters began asking questions.
The New York Times reports:
When Republicans gather in Milwaukee next month to nominate him for president, Donald J. Trump plans to live not in the convention host city but in a special hotel in Chicago, about 90 miles away, according to three people familiar with the matter. Lump Hotel.
That changed Tuesday afternoon after a Times reporter and ABC Chicago contacted his campaign for comment.
Two people familiar with Trump’s logistics said he now plans to stay in Milwaukee. The change avoids slighting Wisconsin, the largest city in a key battleground state.
None of this would have happened if Trump hadn’t disparaged Milwaukee as a “terrible city” when speaking to Republican members of Congress on Capitol Hill.
Trump knew he had a problem, so he tried to undermine control at a rally in Wisconsin:
Trump is trying to do damage control after calling Milwaukee a terrible city at a Wisconsin rally, but there are signs. "I’m officially a Milwaukee pick,"
Why did Trump make such a formal statement? Answer: Because he didn’t choose Milwaukee. He made the choice in name only. pic.twitter.com/cGqjzg5s2k

Since Donald Trump can’t shut up, he will apparently be in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. If the former president is caught trying to commute from Chicago, he could be stranded in a key swing state in November.
