As Trump and Biden prepare for the debate, it’s important to remember that Trump took $5.5 million from the Chinese government and failed to disclose the hundreds of Chinese trademarks he owns.
According to a report from House Oversight Committee Democrats:
The committee’s Democratic staff documented that the Republic of China and the U.S. government spent more than $5.5 million on properties owned by Trump during his tenure. Airlines Hainan Airlines Holdings Co. Former President Trump violated the Constitution by accepting these payments from the People’s Republic of China without the approval of Congress by companies he owned. Crucially, these figures are based on the limited records of Mazars available to the Commission as well as public records maintained by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As such, these salaries represent the minimum amount of unconstitutional payments that Trump-owned businesses received from the government of the People’s Republic of China and state-owned entities during the former Trump administration.
This report also discusses former President Trump’s recent disclosures regarding the Government of the People’s Republic of China’s vast trademark portfolio that expanded during Trump’s presidency. Although Mr. Trump was required to fill out a financial disclosure form every year during his term in office, he “neglected to include hundreds of trademarks he owned” on those forms while he was president. “The belated disclosure means Americans knew little about the scope of Trump’s foreign holdings during his presidency and did not learn about them until he was running for re-election in 2024.” 120 Notably, even if Not surprisingly, after Trump took office, the situation of Trump family companies obtaining trademarks in China improved significantly and rapidly.
Corruption is not limited to trademarks. In 2022, the Department of Justice revealed that Trump illegally received hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from China.
Trump received loans from China and did business with the government’s own banks.
If the topic of China comes up in a presidential debate, the Chinese government won’t be Joe Biden. This is Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is a national security threat in many ways, but his business dealings with the Chinese government are an issue that voters cannot ignore as they make their choice.
