Donald Trump Jr. had a surprising reaction on Tuesday to reports that Iran was plotting to assassinate his father, former President Donald Trump, calling it “perhaps the greatest political endorsement of all time.”
Trump’s eldest son, who is the face of his father’s campaign, made the comments during an interview with “Hannity” at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where the former president arrived for the second time with his right ear tied Wearing obvious bandages.

“I think it’s a great recognition. When someone like Iran wants to get rid of you, that probably means it’s good for the United States and bad for Iran,” Trump Jr. said. “It’s probably the greatest political recognition ever. But when that happens, they’re capable of more than just a kid with a rifle.”
Two federal law enforcement sources told Fox News that the Department of Homeland Security received intelligence from people with knowledge of an Iranian plot to assassinate former President Trump. CNN first reported that the Secret Service had stepped up protection for Trump in recent weeks as a result of this intelligence. Fox News has learned that the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service are increasingly concerned about Trump hosting outdoor events.
Sources said the plot does not appear to be related to 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who shot and killed Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, over the weekend. Iran’s mission to the United Nations denied the accusations in a statement to Fox News Digital, calling them “unsubstantiated and malicious.” Trump directive Strike in January 2020 Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force, was killed.

When Sean Hannity asked how Saturday’s assassination of his father affected him personally, he quipped: “It’s allergies.”

“The Trump family didn’t cry a lot, but that moment, it was so heavy. 48 hours later…just emotion…and the love that we feel here,” he said. “It’s incredible what I’ve seen in Milwaukee over the past few days.”
