Former first lady Melania Trump watched would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks open fire in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month, former President Trump revealed on Monday.
In an exclusive interview with “The Ingraham Angle,” host Laura Ingraham asked Trump how Melania reacted to seeing the rally on live television.
“She can’t even talk about it. It doesn’t matter because it means she likes me or she loves me,” he said.

“When I fell down, she thought the worst thing happened because I fell down and I grabbed my [ear] I saw my hands were covered in blood. You’ll see it in slow motion, instant replay,” he continued shortly after.
The former president and current Republican candidate was nearly assassinated on July 13 when Crooks, then 20, opened fire at a campaign rally, wounding Trump and attendees while protecting his family from gunfire when he killed firefighter Corey Comperatore.

The security failures that led to the incident came under intense bipartisan scrutiny in the weeks after the incident, leading Congress to grill then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle before she ultimately resigned.
Trump mentioned Competore in his conversation with Ingraham, saying it was “very important” to find out what happened.
