PARIS — Divers Sarah Bacon and Cassidy Cook earned the United States its first medals at the Paris Olympics.
Bacon and Cook won silver medals in the 3m synchronized springboard event at the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, north of Paris. This is the first time the United States has won a medal at the event since 2012.

Chinese players Zhang Yani and Chen Yiwen won gold medals, American players Bacon and Cook, and British player Yasmine Harper won bronze medals.
It was the first medal for Bacon and Cook. Bacon is about to make his Olympic debut. Meanwhile, Cook competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, finishing 13th in the women’s 3-meter springboard event.
It’s the first medal for Team USA in what is expected to be another medal-record run at the Summer Olympics.
