The United States shocked Bangladesh again on Thursday, winning the second T20I by six runs to seal the three-match series ahead of co-hosting the men’s T20 World Cup next month.
The United States, led by Monank Patel (42), registered 144-6 to defeat Bangladesh by 138 runs at Houston’s Prairie View Stadium to win by six runs in a five-match series that proved to be a success on Tuesday. The victory was no fluke.
Patel and Steven Taylor (31 points) got the hosts off to a strong start, with Aaron Jones adding 35 points to help them achieve a competitive overall result.
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (36) and Shakib Al Hasan (30) continued the chase but the rest of the batting line-up was left out of the innings Surrendered with 3 goals left.
For the hosts, Khan (3-25) took three wickets in the death over to swing the game in their favour.
“I thought the way our bowlers bowled in the powerplay, especially in the last five overs, we took advantage of the conditions well and they got wickets at the right time,” Patel said.
“I think if we win [on Saturday] And to gain confidence heading into the World Cup, that will definitely help us.
While a 3-0 series sweep against the United States will be a major boost ahead of the World Cup, which they co-host with the West Indies from June 1 to 29, Bangladesh on trial have struggled after back-to-back losses to teams in the same division. The national team will reflect.
“I think it’s very disappointing for us,” Shanto said.
“We lost wickets in almost every over in the middle overs. I think that was the point where we lost the game. I hope we can play some good cricket in the next game.
“I don’t think it’s a technical problem, we should change our mentality and attitude.”
