According to Sky Germany, Burnley coach Vincent Kompany has reached a “verbal agreement” to join Bayern Munich and formal negotiations between the two clubs have begun.
Bayern are searching for Thomas Tuchel’s successor after the German confirmed his departure last week.
The Bundesliga has now turned its attention to Kompany. The two sides are conducting specific and active negotiations, but have not yet reached an agreement.
Kompany wants to go to Bayern and a verbal agreement has been reached. However, the deal has not yet been completed.
Skentucky sports news Burnley have been contacted for comment on Bayern’s interest in Kompany.
The Belgian is contracted at Turf Moor until the summer of 2028 and Bayern sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are both interested in the Belgian.
Bayern have also gathered information on Mauricio Pochettino, who left Chelsea on Tuesday, but no discussions have yet taken place, with the German giants focusing on Vincent Kompany.
Burnley are interested in the 38-year-old despite enduring a difficult season following their relegation from the Premier League and immediate return to the Championship.
But the former Manchester City captain, who also coached Anderlecht, did know the Bundesliga, having played in the Bundesliga with Hamburg before joining Manchester City.
Bayern have been frustrated so far in their search for a replacement for Tuchel, with Bayer Leverkusen boss Xavi Alonso, Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann and Austria boss Ralf Rangnick all Rejected the position.
The Bavarians have also shown interest in Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, but the Austrian is happy at Selhurst Park.
Bayern’s move to bring in Kompany is ‘risky’ and ‘experimental’

“There is no agreement or anything signed yet, but negotiations and negotiations are ongoing and Bayern hopes to complete the search for a new coach in the next few days.
“Despite Bayern gathering information regarding Mauricio Pochettino over the past few days, there has been no direct contact between the club and the former Chelsea manager in the past few hours. Indications are that Bayern are keeping an eye on Kompany.
