After launching the X Fold 3 Pro in China, Vivo has launched it overseas, first in India. There’s no international pricing yet, but in China, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro starts at 9,999 yuan (about $1,380, $1,080, or AU$1,525). A U.S. launch is not expected.
Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has a book-style design, with a large 8.01-inch display inside and a 6.53-inch cover screen. It is powered by Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, has three rear cameras and a large 5,700mAh battery, and supports 100W and 50W wireless charging. It also may have the brightest internal screen of any foldable phone in the world, with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
The camera module includes three rear lenses, consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto camera and a 50MP wide-angle lens. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the front, which makes the camera settings more complete.
All these features are packed into the X Fold 3 Pro’s slim and lightweight book-like design. The thickness after unfolding is 5.2 mm. That’s just 0.3mm thicker than the Magic V2, the world’s thinnest book-style foldable phone, and the difference is probably negligible.
Size and weight have always been drawbacks for book-style foldable phones in their pursuit of mainstream adoption, but manufacturers are increasingly launching thinner, lighter foldable devices through the use of innovative materials and hinges. The company says the X Fold 3 Pro uses second-generation silicon and a lightweight carbon fiber hinge.
Although Vivo isn’t a household name like Apple or Samsung, it is one of the largest phone manufacturers in the world. It usually mass-produces low- to mid-range phones. In recent years, it has produced high-end phones, but on a smaller scale, including foldable phones with advanced hardware, such as the Fold X3 Pro.
In its international launch, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro also gets some new AI features powered by the Google Gemini model. These features include the ability to quickly transcribe recordings and translate content on the web page you’re working on without having to switch apps.
