Xbox has resolved a massive outage that prevented players from connecting to Xbox Live, playing online games, downloading games, or using other services for hours. “Customers should no longer experience issues signing into Xbox Live and services,” Xbox said in a post on
The Xbox Live issues appear to have started around 2pm ET, with DownDetector reports starting to increase around that time. At around 3pm ET, Xbox said it was “aware that some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live” and began an “investigation.”
Meanwhile, its status page shows that Xbox’s account and profile services have experienced a severe outage. “You may be unable to sign in to your Xbox profile, may be disconnected when signing in, or experience other related issues,” the notice reads. “Features that require signing in, such as most games, apps, and social activities, will be unavailable. ”
At around 4:10pm ET, Xbox said its investigation was “taking longer than expected” and the issue was not resolved until around 9pm. It was unclear what caused the hours-long outage. edge Microsoft was contacted with a request for more information but did not receive an immediate response.
